| 抄録(和) | 文字認識の分野において,加重方向指数ヒストグラム法をはじめ,多くの特徴抽出法は文字領域に着目している.しかし,背景領域にも文字の構造が反映されているはずである.本稿では,背景領域に着目した新しい手法として,輪郭線の方向性を背景領域に伝搬させていく背景伝搬法を提案する.背景伝搬法では,方向性の伝搬に弱めを導入して輪郭情報をぼかしていくとともに,加重方向指数ヒストグラム法で有効であった2次元ガウスフィルタによるぼかしを導入し,位置変動に強い安定した特徴量を得る.ETL9B全字種を対象とした認識実験の結果,従来の加重方向指数ヒストグラム法より高い認識率が得られ,手書き漢字認識において有効であることが分かった. |
| 抄録(英) | In the field of character recognition, many feature extraction methods are proposed. Those are the methods extract features from character shapes themselves like a weighted direction index histogram method. But features must exist also in the background of the character pattern. Here we propose a background propagation method as a new character recognition method which propagates the directionality of the stroke to the background. In this method, the features which are robust and stable to the position variation are obtained by using the gradation of the contour directionality and two dimensional Gaussian filter. From the recognition experiment to all characters in ETL9B, the method is effective in handwritten character recognition because the recognition rate is higher than that of the other method. |
