Boosting-Like Training for Early Recognition and Its Application to Online Character Recognition

Abstract(in English) This paper describes an algorithm for recognizing sequential patterns at their beginning. The algorithm is based on a boosting-like scheme for training weak-learners prepared at individual frames. Training samples misrecognized by the weak-learner at a certain frame are heavily weighted at the training of the weak-learner at the next frame. The algorithm was applied to an online character recognition task for showing its usefulness.
