Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) NTT has been investigating an ultra-lightweight and large onboard antenna reflector, which is 20m in diameter and less than 100kg for use in the next generation broadband mobile satellite communication system. The key technologies for the antenna are a tendon reinforced support structure and a cable network structure that forms reflector surface. The support structure gives tensile force to the cable network to form designed parabolic shape. The support structure is so designed to bear up the reactive force from the cable network by applying tendon cable to avoid compression buckling with ultra light weight framework. Even with the tendon reinforcement under the tensile force, it is inevitable the large deformation of the ultra lightweight structure that degrades accuracy of reflector form, we designed the cable network insensitive to the support displacement to keep accuracy by arranging the cable stiffness precisely. A 1/5 scale model was fabricated and evaluated and the design method of the proposed structure is validated.
