Abstract(in English) When it comes to compositing camera images and CG images in a live TV production, it is necessary to estimate camera parameters in real time for rendering of the CG images. However, it is difficult to estimate camera parameters on a stable, real-time basis without using a special tripod, crane, etc. Therefore, we have come up with a new technique to estimate camera parameters in real time using infrared markers and a new developed apparatus in which a color camera and an infrared camera are arranged on the same optical axis. This new technique, which uses infrared images and color images in combination, makes possible robust marker tracking and real-time estimation of camera parameters. In this paper, we shall describe our proposed technique in detail and present the results of a basic experiment on marker identification and an experiment on composition of images based on estimated camera parameters, which experiments were carried out to verify the effectiveness of the technique.
