Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The use of multiple antennas at both ends of wireless link, called MIMO (Multiple-input Multiple-output) technology, promises significant improvements in terms of spectral efficiency and link reliability. A number of studies have been conducted on point-to-point MIMO channels in the last decade. More recently, applying MIMO techniques to relay networks has also come into consideration. However so far most of the researches on multiple antenna relay channels are aimed at obtaining information-theoretic limits of non-regenerative relaying systems. In this paper practical MIMO adaptive transmission schemes for a cellular relaying system are discussed. The performance of MIMO spatial multiplexing (SM) and MIMO eigenmode transmission (ET) are compared in line of sight (LOS) environment assuming a link between base station and relay station. We have studied about the performance of the two transmission schemes in fast fading environments applying power optimization and adaptive transmission. It has been confirmed by computer simulations that SM is superior to ET in transmission rate and bit error rate performance in such environments.
