Abstract(in English) | A major drawback of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems has traditionally been their high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). To overcome this problem, a number of techniques have been developed. The clipping and filtering is one of the most effective techniques to reduce PAPR. However, the clipping and filtering technique has a problem to generate a non-linear distortion which involves a degradation of signal quality. The overclipping and filtering technique is more effective to reduce PAPR and a non-linear distortion, but the degradation of the signal quality is unavoidable. In this paper, we analyze the degradation due to the overclipping and filtering based on clipping and filtering theory, and propose a quasi-maximum likelihood estimation method having reduced complexity to improve bit error rate (BER) performance. As a result, we can obtain a low PAPR and good BER performance by combining the over-clipping and filtering and the quasi-maximum likelihood estimation. |
