Constellation Rotated OSDM Systems and Its Performance over Rayleigh Fading Channels

Abstract(in English) OFDM technique are widely used in communication systems which work under multi-path environment e.g. ADSL, WLAN and DVB etc.. In OFDM system, little inter symbol interference (ISI) can often be tolerated and no extra counter measure such as an equalizer is needed. This, though, does not perform well when the channel nulls are located on the subcarriers. On the other hand, Suehiro, et al. have proposed orthogonal signal division multiplexing (OSDM) system. In OSDM, multi-path environment robustness guarantees symbols recovery by low complexity of receiver even the channel nulls are located on the subcarriers. However, the performance of OSDM is strongly depends on channels and may fail to achieve full diversity. In this paper, we propose a novel constel-lation-rotated OSDM (CR-OSDM) system. By combining constellation rotation technique which is specialized to OSDM system, the performance become to independent for channel with full diversity. Moreover, we propose new approach for derive rotation angle. In our approach, the rotation angle is decided to minimize symbol error rate or bit error rate while in other constellation rotation technique such as usually used in space time block code, the angle is decided to maximize minimum distance.
