Abstract(in English) IEEE 802.15.3c Task Group 3 is established for the standardization of millimeter-wave 60GHz wireless personal area networks (WPAN). This new WPANs will achieve data rates in the order of Gbps with low error rates. To achieve such error rates, the payloads in the system are well protected through strong FEC codes, such as LDPC codes. On the header side the protection requirements are met through low rate Reed Solomon coding and spreading with golay codes. Spreading not only protects against destructive effects of multipath, but gives the receiver side a chance to increase the performance through the use of RAKE reception. In this paper, we investigate the performance increase in frame headers both will high and low spreading factors in a non-line of sight fading channel model, which is accepted by the Task Group. Our simulation results indicate that up to 3dB performance increase is possible. Such an increase would improve the robustness of many applications such as lossless video transmission.
