Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Power consumption is a key issue in sensor networks. For power-saving, it is effective to reduce backoff caused by channel busy and retransmission due to the packet collision. IEEE 802.15.4 defines the random backoff mechanism for avoiding the re-backoff and the retransmission. Re-backoff and retransmission, however, increase as the traffic grows, if the default value of the exponent, macMinBE, deciding the first backoff time, is used without change. This article proposes a novel backoff control scheme which assures the required QoS in IEEE 802.15.4 by dynamically changing the macMinBE with avoiding re-backoff and retransmission. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is shown through simulation analysis.
