Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Network coding is a coding technology which enhances the performance of multicast communications. In this paper, we propose a scheme to apply network coding to light-tree-based optical multicast. The proposed scheme includes a multicast tree construction algorithm and a data transmission technique for network coding in optical networks. The former constructs multicast trees for network coding based on a path-disjoint algorithm, which is one of protection schemes for multicast session in optical networks. The latter resolves overhead by electric processing caused by network coding, and transmits data effectively on constructed multicast trees. With our proposal, we not only can improve the throughput of optical multicast, but also can provide a minimal tolerance for a single-link failure. Through simulation experiments, we show the potential performance of network coding for optical networks.
