A Study on Thin-film Approximate Representation of Composite Films Made of Dielectric and Magnetic for FDTD Method

Abstract(in English) With miniaturization of electronic equipment, the utilization of the composite films made of dielectric and magnetic are widely used for EMC measures. When the thin film is modeled in the electromagnetic field analysis, it is necessary to compose it of one cell or more. Therefore, analysis times and memories increased. In this study, to analyze by FDTD the thin film in a short time and small memories, the author proposes the approximate representation of thin films. The approximation representation is expressed as a model by whom the thin film is thickened from relational expression of material constant and thickness. As an application example, attachment of thin film on microstrip line is used, comparison between actual dimension model and approximate model and measured model is carried out about transmission characteristics and electric power separation. As a result of the transmission characteristics, it obtains the good agreement between them models. As a result, it is obtained that the transmission characteristics are excellently corresponding among those model. As a results of the electric power separation, the difference error margin increases by the thick expression of the thickness. It is also confirmed the changing trend in the effect of dielectric and magnetic loss. It is confirmed that the analytical time and memory are reduced by using the approximate representation of thin film. Therefore, effective data for the analytical technology of thin film are provided.
