Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose a new asynchronous MAC protocol with transmission packet control and adaptive sleep for event driven wireless sensor networks such as fire detection and intruder detection. In the event driven wireless sensor networks, high delivery ratio and low latency packet forwarding when the event occurs, and the energy-saving of sensor nodes when there is no event are demanded. In the proposed protocol, energy-saving is attained by adaptive sleep that each node selects sleep time to minimize energy consumption selecting by the transmission right acquisition interval. Transmission node guesses present sleep time of reception node by using the transmission right acquisition interval of reception node. And, the link establishment between transmission and reception nodes is guaranteed by deciding Modified Short Preamble (MSP) packet transmission time equal to the guessed value. Moreover, the throughput can be increased to a certain level where buffer overflow would not occur by controlling the number of transmission packets. Reception node informs the number of packets that a transmission node can transmit to the corresponding transmission node. Simulation results show that the proposed protocol can obtain energy efficiency, decrease delay compared with B-MAC+. Therefore, it is shown that the proposed protocol is an appropriate MAC protocol for event driven wireless sensor networks.
