Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) On the Internet, communication performance is sometimes degraded due to packet loss and/or delay variation caused by congestions and temporal failures. And, when an end-user suffers from such degradation, it is desirable a causal area on the communication path could be located. However, end-users could not know the network-internal states in general. In response to this issue, we develop a measurement tool for inferring the packet loss rate/delay variance on each segment, a portion divided IP routers on the path, based on network tomography. This relies solely on end-to-end active measurements between the ends of the path, and is suited to the end-users. Simulation and test-bed experiments indicate the potential of the tool.
