Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Network resource management is one of the important issues in the current Internet, which supports various real-time applications, e.g, voice and video, as well as traditional non real-time applications. In this article, we propose a MIB (Management Information Base) based effective bandwidth estimation method to satisfy delay requirement. MIB information of switches or routers is collected at coarse time granularity via SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol). In the propose method, from the collected information, a time series of traffic volume at fine time granularity is generated with MWM (Multifractal Wavelet Model) and then, the effective bandwidth is estimated with the time series. We evaluate the proposed method with traffic information measured in an ISP backbone network.
