| Abstract(in English) | This paper presents the results related to "Research and Development of Efficient Spectrum Use in Space Domain" which is one of the sponsored projects by Ministry of Internal Affaires and Communications entitled "Research and Development for Radio Resource Enhancement: Research and Development of Fundamental Technologies for Advanced Spectrum Sharing, " executed from Dec. 2005. Frequency spectrum below 6GHz, which is suitable for mobile radio systems, is used very densely by a lot of radio systems, cellar telephones for example, and the spectrum resource is getting scarce. The purpose of this research is to use the spectrum efficiently and to obtain room of frequency bands that are in great demand for mobile communication systems. There are two approaches toward it: one is "System-to-system SDM (Space Division Multiplexing) technologies" and the other is multi-user MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) technologies. The former improves spectrum efficiency in a unit area for unlicensed bands like 2.4 GHz while the latter raises transmission capacity per a unit bandwidth in a licensed frequency band for a particular user. |
