Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, atmospheric optical multi-level pulse position modulation (PPM) with two modified pseudo orthogonal m-sequences pairs are considered. The symbol error rates of the multi-level PPM with two PN codes are analyzed by taking into account the scintillation, background-noise, avalanche photo-diode (APD) noise, thermal noise, and signal dependence noise. Moreover, the atomospheric optical multi-level PPM with two modified pseudo orthogonal m-sequences pairs are compared with the atmospheric optical PPM with the on-off orthogonal m-sequence. Consequently, the data transmission rate of the proposed system is superior to that of the atmospheric optical PPM at about the same error rate.
