Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Silica-based planar lightwave circuits (PLCs) are promising devices for large capacity and flexible optical communication systems, because of their low propagation losses and highly design flexibilities. In this report, we review the multiple-fiber connection technique for bonding PLCs with more than a hundred fibers. We have applied the technique to 256-channel arrayed-waveguide grating and confirmed the feasibility and excellent performance.
