Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Ultrasonic complex vibration is significantly effective for various high power ultrasonic applications including ultrasonic direct welding of various metal specimens and packaging of electronics devices without solder. Ultrasonic continuous seam welding equipments were proposed and studied on the welding characteristics of various metal plates. Complex vibration system using a longitudinal-torsional vibration converter with diagonal slits is driven only by a longitudinal vibration source in one-directional configuration and elliptical vibration locus is obtained at the welding tip. The complex vibration converter of 19 and 27kHz developed before have eighteen to twenty four diagonal slits of 2 to 3mm depth installed in outer surface of the cylindrical part of the converter. To decrease the number of diagonal slits, new 27kHz converter with penetrated diagonal slits is proposed and studied on the vibration characteristics, vibration locus and welding characteristics of aluminum plate specimens. Number of diagonal slits, which penetrated from the surface to inner hole of the cylindrical part of the converter, may be decreased to only five to eight. The number, dimensions and position of the diagonal slits of the converter are designed by equivalent transmission line method and the vibration characteristics are simulated using finite element method (FEM). Vibration and welding characteristics and 27kHz complex vibration systems using a stainless steel converter with penetrated slits were studied.
