Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose a hierarchical optical path network design algorithm considering waveband protection. The protection in the waveband layer enables us to switch to protection paths efficiently in recovery operations. The proposed design algorithm iteratively searches for concentrated traffic demand and establishes concatenated waveband loops to accommodate them. Numerical experiments over a wide traffic range for various topologies show that designed hierarchical optical path networks with waveband protection are realized by almost the same cost as single layer optical path networks without protection, and therefore, prove the cost effectiveness of hierarchical optical path networks.
