Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This report describes the importance and research issues of Quality of Experience (QoE), which is the user-perceived quality, in audio-video transmission over wireless IP networks. We first define QoE and its metrics. We then introduce conventional methods of QoE assessment for audio-video transmission and point out their limitations along with issues to be addressed. Furthermore, methodologies for QoE measurement, estimation and control are proposed. The report also presents three case studies on QoE: the relation between MAC-level QoS and QoE in IEEE802.11e EDCA, QoE assessment in an ad hoc network, and QoE guarantee by IEEE802.11e HCCA.
