Abstract(in English) | Through comprehensive efforts to decrease the number of fatalities and injuries in traffic accidents by widely prevailing installation of vehicle safety systems, the number of fatal traffic accidents during 2007 has decreased for the seven straight years in Japan. However, we must reduce accidents themselves because the number of traffic accidents has been high level. Particularly, the number of traffic accidents caused by driver's inattentiveness has been still high level, so the solution to this problem is required. In study on driver's attentiveness heretofore, former researchers analyzed driver's state and behavior separately. In this research, we introduced the methodology of estimating driver's state using psychological signals such as ECG and ECG, and driver's behavior using amount of pedal stroke. In experiment, the subjects followed the leading vehicle and kept a certain distance as a primary task, and we gave mental calculation task as a secondary task simultaneously to induce the drive's attentiveness. The experimental results showed that reaction time of subjects was longer in braking by about 0.25 seconds and following distance of subjects was fluctuated three times as usual condition, and physiological signals changed significantly. From the results, inattentive driving induced by mental calculation task affected driver's state and manipulation of pedal stroke. |
