Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes an approach to design a wrapping process from an object and a piece of wrapping paper by the computer graphics technology. The combinational information about an object and a piece of wrapping paper generates possibly multiple feasible wrapping processes. Therefore, we first argue the state of paper wrapping which represents each stage in the wrapping process, and then propose the method for managing sequences of ordered states hierarchically. Then, we show the method for generating the folding operations mainly used in paper wrapping and the pruning algorithm for unnecessary wrapping processes based on the crease pattern of wrapping paper. Finally, we demonstrate how wrapping processes are designed and also show what generated wrapping processes are foldable to make the validity of our proposed method clear.
