Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Quality of network service depends on various resources such as servers, network and service components which are required to execute the service. In order to provide a high-quality service to end-users, service providers must select appropriate resources and properly control them in accordance with the condition of the resources, end-user's requirements and so on. However, the variety of resources of each services makes it difficult and inefficient to implement such a function on each services. This paper presents a new framework to provide common functions to implement services, which require selecting and controlling resources. This framework, a coordinator, has some notable features such as a unified access to resource information, a customizable coordination policy for each service and user, and a conciliation between service and user policies when the two are conflicted. A video-on-demand service is described as an application of the framework. This paper also evaluates the framework by assessing the ease of service development.
