Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This report investigates the effects of video encoding bit rates and receiver-buffering control on QoE in interactive audio-video communications over bandwidth guaranteed IP networks. Under the condition that the guaranteed bandwidth is kept constant, we made experiment on assessment of QoE for various values of the encoding bit rate and receiver-buffering time with two kinds of task. One task is audio-dominant, while the other is one whose video affects QoE more than the former. As a result, we show that we can achieve high QoE by choosing an appropriate combination of the encoding bit rate and receiver-buffering time. In addition, we see that the effects of the encoding bit rate and receiver-buffering time on QoE depend on the kind of task.
