Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | When we encounter uncertainties, we make decisions under time pressure without necessarily knowing the optimum answer, picking up relevant information from the results for further judgments. To study the dynamics of human decision-making process in uncertain situations, we observed human behaviors while the subjects were playing betting games without any prior information about the scoring rules. We found that the subjects responded faster as the game progressed, even when the scores were determined randomly independent of the choices. This result indicates that humans not only learn associations between given choices and scores but also dynamically alter strategies of decisions in accordance with facing situations, suggesting a role for metacognition in the human decision-making process. |
