Analysis of Hand Movement Variation about the Speed of Japanese Sign Language

Abstract(in English) In this study, we analyze the arm movement variations about the speed of Japanese Sign Language. The arm movements of 20 sign sentences were recorded at the three pattern of speed (fast, normal, slow) using the motion tracking system and we analyzed the relation with the speed of sign language and the size of the spatial scale of signs or the speed of the arm. As a result, it was suggested that the change of the speed of the sign language mainly caused the change of the spatial scale of signs and when the sign has a constraint of the movement or the location of the arm, the speed of the arm changed according to the speed of sign language.
