Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A mouse or keyboard is widely used as an input device for operating computers. However, because these devices are controlled by hands, it prevents handicapped people who can hardly move their hands from operating the computers. In this paper, we propose a novel interface that controls the cursor on a screen with 3-dimensional speech pointing device. The 3D speech pointing device can estimate 3D position of the user's mouth while the user makes an utterance. The user can control the cursor by moving the mouth making an utterance on a vertical surface. In addition, we implement a zoom function of the screen so that the user can adjust the cursor position when the user wants the cursor to point a small button or icon. The user can control the zoom function by moving the head to the forward or backward. We confirmed the effectiveness of the zoom function by the experimental results.
