Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We investigated the perception of other's gaze directed to an auditory or a visual target using two tasks: localizing the perceived point where the gaze was directed and discriminating between direct and averted gazes to a target. The gaze to an auditory or a visual target presented at 30 degrees induced each 2.5 to 5 degrees or 9 to 10 degrees shifts to the inside for "direct" judgment. The localized direction in presented gaze shifted 2 to 5 degrees to the outside at 30 degrees direction in both targets. Additionally, the ratio distribution of "direct" judgment was close to that of localization within the physical width of 8 degrees for a visual target and within that of 14 to 20 degrees for an auditory target. These indicates that, in "direct to target" judgment, (1) position of auditory target gazed by Other was correctly but its width was estimated as two times as speaker, and (2) position of visual one was shifted to the inside but its width was correctly estimated, (3) localized gaze within the estimated width of target was judged as "other was looking at".
