Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Up to now, the growth measurements of the plant has been carried out by monitoring weight of dried specimen and area of leaves area harvesting. Since these measurements are based on sampling, it takes time from a few days to a few months. For noncontactiog measurement, we can take the pictures of plant which are processed by computers. It is impossible, however, to detect displacement of micrometers and strain rate of 0.1%/min. We report here the result of measuring the growth of plant by a laser speckle strain gauge. The plant is cultivated indoors under the control of light irradiation, temperature and humidity. In conclusion we could measure local growth rate of plant as slow as 0.01 %/min directly without any contact and under various conditions.
