The Pattern Measurement Method of VHP Antenna in Small Anechoic Chamber

Abstract(in English) In this paper, we present the validity of near-field antenna measurement to estimate the far-field radiation pattern at VHF band by calculating a correlation and RMS (Root Mean Square) between far- and near-field pattern. The far-field pattern measurement at VHF band require a huge measurement space and is not easy to set up inside a room. We show that a near-field complex pattern has high correlation and low error for the far-field pattern under small anechoic chamber using monopole antenna on a finite perfect ground plane and present a relationship between ground plane size and measurement distance for the VHF band measurement. In addition, we calculate the maximum and average gain using complex pattern to show the validity of evaluation with the correlation and RMS. We also verify a mutual coupling between received and transmitted antennas is almost ignored in the near-field pattern measurement.
