Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In the Next Generation Private Network System, a server executes communication control in combination with other servers. We study a method of redundant failover by servers in remote sites in order to provide a continuance of calls even if all servers in a site crash by disaster. Disaster relief systems need such high availability. Three modes of packet delivery were compared under two requirements - support of failover by servers in other subnets, and no intermediate packet forwarding node which distinguishes active servers from standby servers. The best mode is tunnel mode in which applications use virtual IP addresses and communicate with each other through IP tunnels. The tunnel mode is effective in reducing developing costs of adaptation of each application. We are developing a prototype system to evaluate our method from the viewpoint of functionality and performance.
