Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The organic field-effect transistor (OFET) with step-edge structure having a very short channel length was fabricated. Source and drain electrodes were obliquely deposited by vacuum evaporation onto a gate-formed substrate. The step-edge of the gate electrode serve as a shadow mask, and the short channel is formed at the step-edge. Then the channel length corresponds to the thickness of the gate electrode, and the channel length is controlled by choosing the film thickness of the gate electrode. Pentacene was used as the organic semiconductor. We report electrical characteristics of new type OFET with channel length of 1 μm.
