Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we evaluate the communication performance between HAPS as a base station and mobile users moving in cities of Japan. In order to derive accurate results, we characterize channel conditions such as LOS and Shadowing by conducting experiments in Japanese urban cities such as Tokyo in which very high buildings densely exist. This provides us more accurate estimation of channel conditions for specific environment according to its building structure. Then, we evaluate the communication links using our proposed channel model and network infrastructure by presenting the results of Packet Error Rates (PER) in different azimuth angles taking into account various mobile terminal speeds. The results yield from our experiments and simulations serve as another contribution to the future network planning and deployment of HAPS in the urban areas.
