802.11s wireless LAN mesh network standardization and the expectations for the software radio

Abstract(in English) IEEE802.11 committee is currently working on the standardization of the "mesh network extension" to the 802.11 wireless LAN base standard. This work is under the process of Task Group "s", which is one of the subcommittees of the IEEE802.11 Working Group, and the mesh networking extension is known as 802.11s. This paper introduces the background and history of the standardization, the scope of the work, and the major technical items discussed among the task group members. The expectations for the software radio is also described, mainly from the broad use cases of wireless mesh network.
