Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Multi-hop wireless systems have been studied to realize sensor networks and wireless access networks for digital divide reduction. System capacity enhancement is the most important issue within restriction on the wireless system resource. Network coding has been highly regarded as a technology of system capacity enhancement due to reduction of transmits packet signals. Originally network coding has been studied at the network layer. To enhance network coding technologies, they have been applied to wireless systems in which features of broadcast are inherent. To give an actual example, network coding technologies have been applied to the MAC layer and/or the PHY layer. Nowadays these fields, which attract much attention as one of the cross layer technologies, need much research on fundamental system performances and characteristics. This paper presents the trend of wireless relay systems employing network coding technologies.
