Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) KOTONOHA is a corpus development initiative by the National Institute for Japanese Language. The final goal of the initiative consists in providing a series of corpora that covers the whole range of modem and contemporary Japanese. So far, we have completed constructing three component corpora of KOTONOHA, i.e., the Corpus of Spontaneous Japanese (2004), the Taiyo Corpus (2005), and the Corpus of Modern Japanese in Women's Magazines (2006). Since 2006, we have been involved in the construction of the Balanced Corpus of Contemporary Written Japanese (BCCWJ), which is the joint project between the NIJL and the MEXT grant-in-aid for scientific research priority-area program Japanese Corpus (2006-2010).
