Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have proposed that artificial control of microstructures in Si multicrystals is promising for improvement of conversion efficiency of practical solar cells. Toward this goal, we attempt to develop novel crystal growth technology to permit manipulation of microstructures in Si multicrystals based on knowledge obtained through fundamental research on crystal growth. In this paper, we overview our recent research activities including model crystal growth and in situ observation for clarifying growth mechanisms, and "dendritic casting method" to realize high-quality Si multicrystals.
