Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It is said that the capacity of information that can be stored in short-term memory is seven chunks. It is suggested that the number of items that can be stored in the short-term memory changed depending on their relationships by psychological experiments. However, the model proposed by Lisman and Idiart (1995) is not able to explain the changing in total number of items recalled. In our proposed model, the expression of the item has been changed based on the physiological experiment. In addition, to promote the synchronization of neurons, excitatory connections were set between the neurons that expressed the same item. The weight of these connections are acquired by the Spike Timing Dependent synaptic Plasticity (STDP) learning. In this model, the relationships between items have two kinds of forms. One is the relationship expressed by common neurons between two firing patterns for items. The other is expressed by connections between neuronal groups that compose the firing patterns. We performed the simulation of the proposed model. As a result, the change in the number of items that could be stored was observed in both forms of expressions. And the number approximately corresponds to the psychological experiments.
