Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) So far, various remote communication systems have been developed and some have spread generally, but still they are far away from the awareness of the face-to-face communication. There may be several reasons. It may be due to the fact that even if a user changes his/her position and posture, the picture of the communicating partner on the display does not change. Here, we regard the display of remote communication as a window and simulate conversation through the window. We propose a method of capturing the position and posture of a user by a infrared sensor and reflecting it into the view of the partner on the display as if they are talking through the window. This enables the user to change the view of the partner by changing his/her position and posture. We designed a remote communication system incorporating this feature, made a prototype and preliminary evaluated the feature.
