Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper propses a mapping method of shadow and weather effects, which is suitable for interactive visualization of three dimensional digital maps. Shadow by diurnal motion and weather effects are neccesary to represent dynamic landscape realistically. However, priority is not to given to them in real-time computer graphics (CG) technology due to computational cost. This paper gives a solution, in which two steps of mapping process are introduced. In the first step, still shadow texture and dynamic weather effect texture are determined. Then, in the second step, the textures are mapped during Z-buffer rendering to represent a scene. By dividing the mapping process into two, the proposed method does not disturb real-time rendering.
