Abstract(in English) | This paper reports on the development of a communication assistive system using a network display for orthopedically impaired patients. When family members or friends send messages from cell phones or computers from a distance to a target user who stays at home, the network display set up in front of the target user displays the message. The advantage of this system is that since the network display is connected to a local area network directly and not via a computer, it can display messages without a computer being turned on. The system has been used by an orthopedically impaired collaborator for a month and several improvements have been made to the system based on his request. The system was found to have a great potential with further improvement. |
