Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This report deals with travel experiments with two blind individuals. The experimental area is a precinct of JR Utsunomiya station. Each participant uses a cane for usual travel, and is asked to travel certain routes in the area with a usual manner and travel strategy. One of the participants travels the experimental area as one of day-to-day routes, and has acquired the mental map of the area. The other participant is not familiar with the area, and has not acquired fully the mental map. We show experimental results for two participants, and further show the similarity and difference of the travel behaviour including strategies adopted. These results for travel behaviour show certain design issues of travel assistance for the blind.
