Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we will introduce a 3D animation system for Japanese Sign Language. Sign sentences were synthesized by the word connection method where each word data was obtained from human signer's hand and arm movement using a motion capturing system and the movement between two adjacent words were interpolated by the minimum-jerk model and the transitional duration was estimated from the special distance. In order to evaluate the system, we performed an experiment where 4 native signers compare two animations synthesized by our system and the commercial software. As a result, our system was more highly evaluated than the commercial software.
