Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, a novel load sharing method of stream splitting for large bandwidth motion picture multicasting is proposed to support a large number of receiving clients. First, conventional technologies to realize motion picture stream multicasting in electric layer (IP layer/UDP layer) and optical layer are described. It is also described that there is a problem that the load of stream splitting is concentrated on a particular node and stream data is discarded if there is a limited number of nodes which have stream splitting function in a network. Next, to overcome this problem, the load sharing method is proposed. The proposed method shares the stream splitting load among nodes in a network. A prototype system for the proposed method is developed and the performance evaluation of the system is conducted. The evaluation results show that the proposed method can overcome the problem and supports a larger number of receiving clients for large bandwidth motion picture multicasting.
