Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes the advanced networking technologies used for the new Japanese science information network, called SINET3. The network provides a rich variety of network services such as multi-layer transfer, enriched VPN, enhanced QoS, and bandwidth-on-demand services for research and education communities and flexibly assigns the network resources in response to service demands. The paper describes the detailed network design using the advanced technologies such as advanced MPLS, GMPLS, and next-generation SDH and also shows some evaluation results in an experimental environment reflecting the real network conditions.
