Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) When deploying optical drop cables into pipe lines of multidwelling, it is hard to install if the cable sheath is high in friction, and it might lead to wear and damage to cable jacket when installation distance is long. In recent years, there have been damage reports in Western Japan where a cicada named "Kuma zemi" tries to lay eggs by sticking their ovipositor into the drop cable, causing fiber breaks and even complete disconnection of transmission. In order to resolve these problems, we have developed a cicada proof optical drop cable with newly-blended NH sheath material which is low in friction and abrasion resistant.
