Face Authentication in Moving Image based on Self-Organizing Map Circuit

Abstract(in English) In this paper, we describe an image recognition system using a Self-Organizing Map (SOM) circuit. In our proposed system, first, we extract a face region by using a template matching from an input image including a person. Second, we operate SOM algorithm to the extracted face image, and make an indvidual face image map which cope with the face orientation discrimination. Finally, we translate the individual map to base vectors by using Gram-Schmidt Orthogonalization, and recognize unknown input image. In the proposed system, SOM takes much learning time. Therefore, we also describe an advantage of the SOM circuit over a software implementation.
