Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A remote communication system that synthesizes a virtual shared-space image for the participants of the conversation using the "Mirror Interface" is proposed and evaluated. The shared-space image is constructed so that two participants face each other in it, enabling natural conversation including easy gaze recognition, feeling of space sharing, and so on. Experiments have been done to evaluate the relation between the placement of viewpoints for the virtual shared-space and the performance of pointing operation. The results show the statistically significant differences among the operation delay times depending on the placement of the viewpoints.
