Abstract(in English) The Worlds' first S-band Satellite Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (S-DMB) has been launched in Japan from October of 2004. The S-DMB service provides the oceanographic information and weather forecast as a Marine information service in corporation with Japan Meteorological Agency, Japan Coast Guard and several Prefectural Fisheries Experimental Stations in addition to the multi-channel of Video and Audio services. The S-DMB service as a ubiquitous service, it could resolve the digital divide on the sea. This paper describes the brief review of the S-DMB system and services, and explains the Marine information service which is now providing to marine users.
