Abstract(in English) In this paper, we present the performance of a new DVB-S2 modem for SNG (Satellite News Gathering) application. Since the DVB-S2 specification adopts LDPC codes as error correcting code, the new modem must work at much lower carrier to noise ratio (CNR) than a DVB-S modem. To cope with operation under very low CNR condition, we propose a new demodulation scheme utilizing known data patterns such as header and pilot data. It is confirmed by experiments that bit error ratios (BER) of the proposed scheme are very close to theoretical values even in wide carrier and clock frequency deviation range. In case of 32APSK, in particular, the developed modem shows good BER performance within 1.5dB degradation from the theoretical value.
